This June I will be walking the 400 miles between Banbury and Glasgow in memory of my mum Patricia Henderson who died in January of this year.
Although the illness that took her was relatively short, she suffered through her last days. She had always strongly believed that it was every human’s right to have autonomy over their bodies and that we should extend the mercy we give to animals to humans, if that is their wish.
I hope by walking through the country and talking with people on the way, we can raise awareness of what ‘a good death’ means to all of us and how the law must change to return fundamental and natural human rights to the individual.
I planned this walk alone but would welcome anyone wishing to walk a part of the way with me in support or remembrance of a loved one to join me.
If you would like to join me on part of my walk, or you could 'put me up' for a night of sleep along my way, please let Dignity in Dying know.
