'Prosecuting Policy on Cases of Assisting or Encouraging a Suicide'
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was instructed by the Law Lords, in their judgement on the Debbie Purdy case (in July 2009), to issue a prosecuting policy on assisted suicide. The DPP issued an interim policy in September 2009, and held a public consultation on the policy.
The DPP published his final policy in February 2010. Read more on our perspective in our briefing paper on the implications of the policy.
Dignity in Dying's Charter for Dignity at the End of Life
Our Charter for Dignity at the End of Life calls for significant changes to be made to end-of-life care and is supported by former Minister for Health Reform, Lord Norman Warner. The Charter sets out 10 policy calls to improve end-of-life care, focusing on patient choice, control and access to services.
